Being a popular choice for boating enthusiasts and featured in six different models, the Yacht Master is often copied and sold to unsuspecting customers. Knowing how to spot a fake Rolex Yacht Master can save you from falling into this trap.

Check the spelling of “Rolex.” This might be an obvious giveaway, but it’s easy to overlook the single letter that may be out of place (Rollex or Romex, for example.)

Listen to your Rolex Yacht Master watch to see if it ticks. Authentic Rolex watches don’t make a ticking sound. Also, the second hand doesn’t twitch by the second. Rather, it glides perpetually around the face of the watch.

Put a few drops of water on the face of the watch. If it smears, that means the glass is regular glass, not the tough sapphire glass used on Rolex watches. Water on sapphire glass will bead up rather than smear.

Check the back of the watch. Many counterfeit Rolex watches have glass backs. An authentic Rolex Yacht Master watch has a metal back.
