My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam
Asalam-o-Aleikum!
The importance of the occasion of Eid-ul Azha is well known to all Muslims around the world. On this day, Muslim families offer a humble sacrifice and share the bounties provided by Allah Almighty with relatives, friends, neighbours and those in need. On this occasion we do indeed remember those who are less fortunate than ourselves, however in the tenth year of this new millennium, all of us must collectively reflect upon the state of the Islamic Ummah, wherein so many are suffering, not only from hunger but also from poverty, lack of socio economic opportunity and due to forcible physical subjugation.
A new era demands new thinking, and we must collectively move away from the mistakes and divisions of the past. A great resolve would be to educate our youth in the best possible manner so that they are equipped to becoming productive citizens of whichever part of the World they live in. It is my personal belief that “prosperity is a by product of peace” .So let us all pray for peace in the world so that we may have a propserous and well settled Muslim community in the World which plays its due role in the modern world.
