PESHAWAR: A government official says gunmen have killed two people in an ambush on a truck in the northwestern Khyber tribal region on its way back home after delivering Nato supplies in Afghanistan.Iqbal Khan says the truck was attacked early Friday morning near Jamrud in Khyber tribal region. The driver and his assistant were killed, and the unidentified gunmen then torched the truck.
It was the most recent in a rash of attacks on the Pakistan supply line used to carry non-lethal goods to US and other Nato forces in Afghanistan.
Many came when Pakistan closed a key border crossing for 11 days after a Nato helicopter strike that killed two Pakistani border guards, leaving many trucks stranded and vulnerable along their routes. Pakistan reopened the route Sunday.
