German designer envisages iPhone 7 concept which builds on the hugely successful iPhone 6
With more news emerging about the iPhone 7, a collection of concept images have emerged in Germany. Produced by Martin Hajek, this collection of images was specifically commissioned by the German publication, and provide an insight into how Hajek sees this forthcoming smartphone. Some of the ideas which the designer has included in this handset seem feasible, while others have been considered by the analyst community to be rather fanciful.

iPhone 7 to retain core design

According to Hajek’s reckoning, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will largely reuse the design which was so popular with the iPhone 6, simply making alterations to the front of the device in order to include a larger screen. Hajek predicts that the bezels of the iPhone 7 will be particularly slimmed down, enabling Apple to retain the existing size of the iPhone while including a larger screen.

Anyone who has bought visual consumer electronics technology in recent months will know that this is becoming a very strong trend, not only in the smartphone niche but elsewhere as well. High end television sets produced by the likes of Apple’s great rival Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) feature minuscule bezels compared to the sets that were on the market just a few years ago.

In order to achieve this, Hajek suggests that Apple will integrate the Touch ID sensor directly within the display itself, and remove the ear speaker, FaceTime camera and proximity sensor to a position next to the top edge of the iPhone 7 device.

Hajek also believes that Apple will make alterations to the rear of the iPhone handset. The antenna bars which are included with the device have been considered unsightly by some critics, and this could provoke Apple to make changes to its approach. Hajek has a nifty solution in mind, which involves utilizing antenna rings which parallel the edges of the iPhone 7 device itself.

Dual-lens camera

One of the most interesting aspects of Hajek’s vision for the iPhone 7 is that he envisages a dual-lens camera being included with the device. This has been one of the hottest rumors related to the iPhone 7 over the last few months, with numerous sources suggesting that Apple will include a professional quality snapper when it finally releases the iPhone 7. Other equally ambitious cameras have been linked with the Apple device, but Hajek evidently believes that the dual-lens option is the most plausible of those suggested.

It has been also mooted in accordance with the design of this German visionary that as Apple has access to Force Touch technology that the end of the Home button is nigh. Whether or not this eventuality comes to pass with the iPhone 7 remains to be seen, but it does seem a distinct possibility for the foreseeable future.

One problem with the Force Touch technology has been that it is not truly refined yet. Early users of the Apple Watchhave reported that the technology at times fails to register particular touches in the appropriate fashion. With the iPhone likely requiring three different methods for Force Touch, this could potentially be even more problematic. And considering that the iPhone is a significantly more complex device than a smartwatch, it is thought they may decide to hold fire on this concept until it is truly perfected.

Aside from this prediction of the future, further activity from Apple has also provided some insight into the iPhone 7. With the beta iOS 8.4 already available for developers, and reports indicating some of the features expected for iOS 9, Apple fans can already glimpse upon the killer features which may be included in the iPhone 7 when it is released.

The iOS 9 operating system is currently being codenamed Monarch, and it is now reaching the stage of final polishing ahead of its unveiling at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference. Mark Guramn of 9to5Mac has obtained some significant details about this operating system ahead of this event, and these will give a real clue about what will be delivered by the next iPhone.

Better iPhone security

Firstly, Apple is clearly intending to ramp up security with the iPhone 7, and the basis for this will be software. It is possible that Apple will also include security-related hardware features in the iPhone 7, with the operating system less likely to be to feature heavily enhanced security.

The software updates are expected to be heavily embedded within the Touch ID fingerprint scanner. With Apple Pay having being introduced last year, and Apple keen to extend the reach of this mobile payment system in the coming years, absolute security is essential for forthcoming Apple mobile products

Siri revamp

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has been placing a particular emphasis on its Cortana assistant in recent months, and thus it is hardly surprising that the Apple equivalent is receiving an upgrade. In the iOS 9 release, this digital assistant will get a huge makeover, with a completely redesigned application closely mirroring the more colorful user interface utilized for the Apple Watch. Updates will not be limited to cosmetic improvements, and this arena is set to be a battleground in the coming years between Cortana, Siri and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Now.

New music streaming service

Apple paid a multi-billion dollar sum in order to acquire Beats Music, and it will begin to expand the process of cashing in on this investment with the iPhone 7 and iOS 9. Beats Music is expected to be the platform of the consumer electronics giant’s reengineered music streaming service, which will obviously be linked with his existing iTunes service.

The iOS 8.4 beta version has already given a glimpse of this functionality, and it is expected that there will be a major rollout of a Beats music and iTunes collaborative service around June of this year.

Other possible iPhone features

There is still some debate as to whether the iPhone 7 will be released in 2015, or delayed until 2016 while an iPhone 6C / 6s device is released instead. But other possible features included in the iPhone 7 could be curved screen technology, sapphire glass, new chipsets designed by Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE) (TYO:6758) and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), and a 4-inch version of the smartphone.
